The Delegation of Matej Bel University (Slovakia) visited the Belarusian State University. The delegation was headed by the rector of the university Vladimir Giadlovski Hiadlovský. The delegation included also the vice-rector for international cooperation and public relations Katarína Chovancová and the heads of the natural-science, economic and humanities faculties.

The purpose of the visit of the Slovak delegation to the BSU was to discuss issues on expanding cooperation and deepening existing partnership relations. Since 2005 and up to the present time, cooperation between universities has been carried out only in the field of philology, history and tourism. The parties expressed interest in establishing joint activities in the field of the natural-science profile.

"BSU today has a wide range of specialties at the first and second levels of education. We are always happy and ready to see your students for various courses and programs at our university. This would serve as a good continuation of the already existing cooperation", – said Rector of the Belarusian State University Andrey Korol.

One of the results of the meeting was an agreement on the establishment of the coordinating council on cooperation between BSU and Matej Bel University. Also, the meeting participants discussed issues related to academic exchange of students and teachers, joint participation in educational programs, projects and scientific research. The representatives of the two universities highlighted the possible interaction in the field of ecologization, the course of green chemistry, management of event events, geology and history studies of Belarus and Slovakia at Matej Bel University and BSU respectively.

Matej Bel University is a public university which achieved university status in 2010 and is a member of the European University Association. The university provides both high quality university and further education by encouraging creative scientific and artistic research. Knowledge is advanced whilst combining the requirements of both scientific developments and practical issues.

The university offers a classic range of university education opportunities at all three levels and forms of studies in the areas of education, social issues, economy, law, politics, humanities and natural sciences, in the fields of international relations, economic specializations and mathematics. In addition, it also provides Anglophonic and partially Francophonic studies. MBU develops joint study programmes and has contacts with major foreign universities, where the students have the opportunity to complete part of their studies. Therefore, MBU graduates are efficient in finding their place in the labour market not only at home but also abroad.

As well as educational, scientific and artistic activities, a significant part of creative MBU activities is represented by basic and applied research in cooperation with national and international institutions. The University is a centre of research excellence and scientific and development projects are funded by means of European Structural Funds. Furthermore, it implements lifelong learning in a variety of courses and forms of the MBU Children's University and the MBU University of the Third Age. Finally, it provides students with sufficient opportunities for a variety of social activities through a wide range of sport clubs, artistic ensembles and student organisations functioning at MBU.
BSU has been cooperating with the Slovak University since 2005. Since 2016, cooperation has begun in the framework of the Erasmus + "International Credit Mobility" program. In January 2018 universities signed an updated their agreement on cooperation.
