2019 is the Belarus’ Year of Education in China

The opening ceremony was attended by the Rector of the BSU, Andrei D. Karol, the administration of Higher Educational Institutions of Belarus as members of the delegation led by the Minister of Education of the Republic of Belarus. The visit to China took place from January 8 to January 13.

Cooperation in the field of education is the priority in fostering and developing mutually beneficial relations between two countries. The Belarusian State University plans to implement and organize a number of events devoted to the theme year, they are Chinese-Belarusian Youth Forum, Confucius Institutes Day, Summer School for the Chinese, the organization of the Belarusian-Chinese development research etc.

Signing of two agreements between the BSU and Dalian University of Technology has become the first initiatives in the framework of the Belarus’ Year of Education. One of the agreements provides for the establishing of the joint educational venture housed by the BSU for studying in curricula for the undergraduate and post-graduate education. The document was signed by the Party Committee Chairman, Wang Hansong, and the Rector of the BSU, Andrei D. Karol.

The second agreement provides for the Joint Scientific Research Centre establishment. It will operate on the basis of the existing Joint Institute DUT–BSU and is planned to become a platform for the joint scientific research and students’ work experience internship. The agreement was signed by the Heads of both Universities Andrei V. Karol and Guo Dunmin.

The program of the visit to China by the Belarusian Delegation included the participations of its representatives in the conference “Issues and Prospects of the Development of Relations between Belarus and China in the sphere of Education”. At the conference, the Rector of the BSU made a report on the BSU and Chinese universities and research organizations cooperation. Besides, there was held a number of meetings with the heads of Chinese universities on prospective directions of cooperation, implementation of joint educational programs and research. The Belarusian Delegation also visited the Center for the Study of Belarus at the DUT. At the Center they reviewed prospects for the partnership development and held the meeting with Belarusian students, studying at the DUT and other Universities in Liaoning Province.
