BSU expands interuniversity cooperation in the framework of COMPASS project. Such topic was discussed during COMPASS London Forum Project “Building Resilience in Wider Eurasia: Challenges and Opportunities”. The event attracted BSU delegation headed by BSU Rector Andrei Karol and representatives of partner universities of the overture, among which authorities, researches, and experts from University of Kent and University of Cambridge (Great Britain), Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy (ADA, Azerbaijan), Tajik National University (Tajikistan), University of World Economy and Diplomacy (Uzbekistan). BSU joined the international project in 2018. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Sergei Aleinik, members of the British Parliament, also took part in the forum. BSU Rector Andrei Korol made the report “Wider Eurasia: challenges and opportunities. A look from Belarus”. He presented the prospects for cooperation with BSU in the field of education, science and project activities.

Forum participants discussed questions on confidence-building and international cooperation development in the Eurasian region, promoting relations between COMPASS project members. Arrangement on signing the agreement with the ADA was reached and the plan of events on developing Belarus-Uzbekistan relations in the sphere of education was developed in particular by Belarusian party. A number of meetings with British universities representatives in order to develop academic mobility and to prepare scientific publications on history and modern Belarus were also held. The parties also discussed the possibility to include Belarus into the Newton Fund and BSU networking with English IT-Companies.

Promising areas of scientific cooperation were considered during a visit by the delegation of the BSU to the University of Cambridge and a number of its centers. At the meeting with the Director of the Department of Physics Andy Parker, priority joint research in the fields of carbon electronics, cell biophysics and materials physics was discussed. The parties also expressed interest in organizing mutual visits of physicists. The preparation of joint publications on Sinology, international and diplomatic relations was discussed during a meeting with the Director of the Department of Development Studies at the University of Cambridge, Peter Nolan. The parties also discussed the possibilities of organizing a society for the study of Belarus at the British University and of the inclusion of the BSU in the inter-university network to improve the studying of postgraduate students. Negotiations were also held with the Honorary Professor of Christ's College Nick Ray on the organization of joint events and publications in the field of social and human sciences.

The COMPASS project “Building Resilience in Wider Eurasia: Challenges and Opportunities” was held January 28-29 in London.
